　文英堂『UNICORN-ENGLISH COURSE?』、アインシュタインのエッセイ「I Believe」
高校教科書で読書というのは、ずれているかも知れないが、よく選ばれた文が多いし、今の高校生たちが読むモノを理解していたいと思う。
　

Strange is our life here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why,
yet sometimes to find a purpose.
(この地上で私たちの一生は不思議なものです。私たちめいめいは、なぜかということも知らずに、ほんの束の間だけこの世に訪れるのですが、それでもときには人生の目的を見出そうとしているように思えます。)

From the point of view of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know :that man is here for good of other men ― above all for those upon whose smile and health our own happiness depends, and also for the great number of suffering people we do not know but can sympathize with.
